Hardwick Hall

Transforming Hardwick Hall’s online experience for luxury stays, corporate, dining, and events.

Hardwick Hall is one of the North East’s most iconic destinations; an eclectic blend of luxury hotel, fine dining, dream weddings, and large-scale live events. As a brand that hosts thousands of guests each year, both in person and online, their website surpassed its technical capabilities resulting in a slow-loading, outdated, and underperforming website. Our challenge was clear: craft a high-performing website that could support heavy traffic, showcase over 200 live events, and guide users through distinct journeys, whether booking a table, planning a wedding, or buying a festival ticket.

Collaboration

Our partnership with Hardwick Hall went beyond creating a new website, it was about redefining how their digital presence could elevate the full spectrum of guest experiences. With such a diverse offer, from boutique stays and weddings to fine dining and large-scale events, it was essential that the new platform supported every area of the business with equal weight and care.

From the start, we embedded ourselves into the team, working closely with them to create. a technical structure that would support their future growth – this ensured every decision was strategically aligned. Our goal was to build a website that not only looked stunning but also worked hard behind the scenes whole being flexible enough to handle frequent content updates, powerful enough to support high-traffic launches, and intuitive enough to guide users through each unique journey.

By blending creative storytelling with technical precision, we helped translate the real-world excellence of the Hardwick Hall experience into a seamless and scalable digital platform—one that could grow with the brand and deliver value every step of the way.

Challenge

Hardwick Hall’s previous website was struggling to meet the demands of a modern, multi-offer venue. With distinct audiences looking for everything from luxury stays to large-scale festivals, the online experience lacked cohesion. Users were left navigating between scattered pages, forms and archives without a clear or intuitive journey.

During peak periods such as Christmas events and festival launches, the site often slowed down under the weight of high traffic, leading to frustrated users and missed revenue opportunities. The lack of a scalable infrastructure and streamlined navigation meant that even the most visually engaging content failed to convert.

What Hardwick Hall needed was a digital platform that could cater to a diverse set of user needs without overwhelming them. The new site had to handle large visitor volumes with ease, guide different customer types effortlessly to the information they were looking for, and integrate e-commerce functionality for event ticketing. Above all, it needed to deliver this performance in a visually rich and accessible way, reflecting the prestige and personality of the venue itself.

From day one, we approached the Hardwick Hall project with one guiding principle: clarity through complexity.

With nearly 200 events and multiple audience types, the site architecture had to be both robust and elegant.

We began by mapping key user journeys and streamlining the navigation to cater to intent-based actions, whether booking a hotel room, browsing dining menus, or purchasing event tickets. We built custom post types and filtering systems for events, ensuring guests could find relevant happenings without information overload.

The visual design pays homage to Hardwick’s character: bold, luxurious, and energetic. And under the hood, the site is engineered for speed, scalability, and seamless content management by the in-house team.
